The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly’s Standing Committee on Finance on Tuesday reviewed the province’s five per cent share in Net Hydel Profit (NHP), with officials asked to provide detailed records of estimated and actual receipts from 2015-16 to 2026-27.
The meeting, chaired by Arbab Muhammad Usman Khan, was informed that the Finance Department had prepared detailed calculations of the five per cent NHP based on production data provided by Wapda in September 2025.
Officials also presented details of monthly estimated and actual receipts according to available hydel production data, besides placing before the committee the record of Wapda’s NHP receipts for 2026-27.
The committee was given a detailed briefing on the 11th National Finance Commission (NFC), financial issues confronting the province, constitutional matters arising after the merger of erstwhile Fata, and KP’s position under the 7th NFC Award.
Members raised questions over various documents and sought further clarification from the Finance Department. The committee expressed satisfaction over some of the information provided but voiced reservations over certain records.
The committee also reviewed a compliance report on the Endowment Fund, including details of its beneficiaries, while officials briefed members on KP’s share under the 7th NFC Award during the past five years.
At the end of the meeting, the chairman directed the Finance Department to improve efficiency and accountability, stressing transparent and effective management of public resources.
