Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister Dr Amjad Ali on Tuesday described the provincial budget for 2026-27 as “people-friendly” and development-oriented, saying it focused on education, healthcare, agriculture and youth welfare without imposing new taxes.
Speaking during the budget debate in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, the minister said the government had presented a budget aimed at providing relief to the public while accelerating development across the province.
He said no new taxes had been imposed and that the education sector had been given special priority, with a higher allocation than in the previous fiscal year.
Mr Ali said record funds had also been earmarked for the health sector to improve medical facilities for the public. He added that allocations for the Sehat Card programme had been increased, enabling more people to receive quality healthcare free of cost.
The minister said additional resources had been allocated for the development of the agriculture sector and the welfare of farmers, while the budget for infrastructure, roads and other development projects had also been substantially increased.
He said the government had introduced special programmes for youth education, employment and skills development, with dedicated funds set aside for their implementation.
Mr Ali said public welfare, development and economic prosperity were the key priorities of the 2026-27 budget. He expressed confidence that the budget would reflect the aspirations of the people and contribute to the province’s development, prosperity and stability.
