KP: CM’s task force recovers Rs30m electricity dues from defaulters

The Chief Minister’s Task Force has recovered over Rs30 millions from electricity consumers in the province in a short period of two months.
According to data released by Chairman Chief Minister’s Task Force Secretary Energy and Power Syed Imtiaz Hussain Shah that during the last two months Rs33,64,809 have recovered from the power consumers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, adding that actions were also taken to prevent illegal use of electricity in the province.
“The Chief Minister Task Force with the help of PESCO, despite the recent disastrous flood situation, during the campaign started from July 18 2022, in a short period of about 2 months, the consumers and Kunda mafia have been arrested,” he added.
During the grand operation across the province, so far 1870 Kundas have been removed, 90 people have been arrested while stealing electricity red-handedly and cases of electricity theft have been registered against 789 people.
Under the supervision of the Chief Executive PESCO Engineer Gul Nabi Syed, raids led by the respective Deputy Commissioners in Peshawar, Mardan, Swat, Swabi, Khyber, Hazara 1, Hazara 2, Bannu in various districts of the province recorded a total of 2,768 cases of electricity theft during house-to-house checking, including electricity arrears. 3 crore 12 lakh 9 thousand 809 rupees were recovered from various paying defaulter customers, while 90 people were arrested on the spot for illegal use of electricity and 1870 people were removed and cases were registered against 789 people.
Chairman Chief Minister Task Force Syed Imtiaz Hussain Shah and Chief Executive PESCO Engineer Gul Nabi Syed have expressed the hope that by appreciating the personal interest and cooperation of Chief Minister KP Mahmood Khan and Chief Secretary Dr Shahzad Khan Bangash the campaign to avoid misuse of electricity and recovery from defaulters would overcome the electricity crisis in the province.
