Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Secretary Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry has directed the concerned departments to ensure foolproof security arrangements and other required facilities for the by-local elections in the province.
He also directed the concerned district administration to ensure effective cooperation with Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for holding fair, free and impartial polling for the local government by-polls for the vacant seats of Tehsil Council Havelian, Abbottabad and Tehsil Council Mathra, Peshawar.
The CS Nadeem Asalam Chaudhary issued the directions in a review meeting regarding the preparations of local government by-polls in KP here on Monday.
According to the schedule issued by ECP, by-elections on vacant seats in the above-mentioned Tehsils of the province will be held on August 6.
Provincial Election Commissioner, Secretary Home Department, Commissioner Peshawar and Hazara, AIG Police, CCPO Peshawar, RPO Hazara, Deputy Commissioner Peshawar and Abbottabad and other relevant officers participated in the meeting.
The forum was informed that 134 polling stations have been set up in Tehsil Havelian and 155 polling stations in Tehsil Mathura for the by-elections. The total number of voters in Havelian is 165,800, while the total number of voters in Tehsil Mathura is 216,769.
The meeting reviewed security arrangements for the elections and issued special instructions for the sensitive polling stations.
