Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approved the first ever Digital Payments and FinTech Strategy 2025–2030, a major step towards financial inclusion and digital transformation in the province.
Special Assistant on Science and Information Technology, Dr Shafqat Ayaz, said that the comprehensive policy was developed in collaboration with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board (KPITB). “The strategy aims to deliver digital financial services directly to citizens, especially in underserved areas, over the next five years, he said.
The provincial Digital Payments and FinTech Strategy 2025–2030 features include promotion of a province-wide e-payments system, expansion of modern financial tools like mobile banking and digital wallets, development of secure digital platforms for both businesses and consumers and support for FinTech startups to grow to international standards.
Mr Ayaz described the policy as more than a technological shift but a vision to turn KP into a digitally empowered, transparent, and self-reliant province. He said that the initiative was expected to stimulate economic growth, improve service delivery, and encourage innovation across the financial sector.
Special Assistant Dr Shafqat Ayaz stated that the strategy aligns with the broader national vision for a tech-enabled Pakistan, and emphasized that KP was leading the way in digital innovation and financial reform.
