Special Assistant to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Information Barrister Ali Saif on Friday said that the provincial government assistance to earthquake Afghanistan was continued as sixteen more trucks loaded with relief items have been dispatched for the affected people at different provinces of the country.
According to Barrister Ali Saif, the relief items included five hundred tents, five hundred kitchen sets, five hundred hygiene sets, five hundred mattresses and two hundred tarpaulins.
“The provincial government has offered the Afghan government an airlift to transport the critically injured to Pakistani hospitals,” he added.
Mr Saif while sharing the assistance details in a video message informed that around 100 modern medical beds have also been provided to the quake victims, adding that six ambulances have been made available at Zaro-Point of Ghulam Khan Border to transport the quack affected people to Pakistan for better treatment.
Barrister Ali Saif on behalf of the government urged the international community to send their aid and welfare agencies to assist the earthquake victims in Afghanistan.
It is worth mentioning here that a powerful earthquake had struck Afghanistan early Wednesday and killed more than 1,000 people and left hundreds injured. In Pakistan, tremors were felt in Peshawar, Islamabad, Lahore, Kohat, Mohmand, Swat, Buner and other parts of Punjab and KP.
Immediately after the earthquake was reported, the provincial government announced that the province would send medical teams to Afghanistan’s Paktika province.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former Prime Minister had also directed the KP government and its health department to take immediate steps and assist the people of Afghanistan.
