KP Govt functionalizes 620 Family Welfare Centres

Population Welfare Department Khyber Pakhtunmkhwa has set up and functionalized 620 Family Welfare Centres across the province while work on 320 more including 120 centres in the newly merged districts is in progress.
This was told during a meeting of KP Assembly Standing Committee on Population Welfare held here with Chairperson, MPA Nighat Yasmin Orakzai in the chair on Tuesday.
Besides, members of the stand committee and other MPAs including Mohammad Shafiq Afridi, Maliha Asghar Khan, Baseerat Bibi, Sobia Shahid, and Shahida Waheed, the Additional Secretary, Deputy Secretary Population Welfare Department, Deputy & Assistant Secretaries KP Assembly, other concerned officers and Assistant Advocate General also attended the meeting. Special Assistant to KP CM on Population Welfare, Syed Ahmad Hussain Shah also attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the authorities of the Population Welfare Department gave detailed briefing to the participants regarding aims & objectives, measures of the department, current population situation and progress on the recommendations of the Council of Common Interests.
Speaking in the meeting, the Chairperson Nighat Yasmin Orakzai said that Population Welfare Department has manifold responsibilities and higher importance, saying that through organised and soberly controlled population not only developmental, economic and social problems could be easily overcome, rather the overall pace of the national development could also be further accelerated and improved.
She also called for purely effective measures to be taken for the benefit of the youth, in order to facilitate the formation of a healthy society of responsible and informed citizens.
She also paid tributes to the authorities of the Population Welfare Department and especially to the Special Assistant to the Chief Minister Syed Ahmed Hussain Shah for taking practical steps for the establishment of 120 Family Welfare Centers in the merged districts.
Nighat Yasmeen Orakzai also emphasised on maintaining full coordination among the Population Welfare Department with other departments as it has direct or indirect relationship with all of them.
She also directed to invite the ministers and assistants of the Departments of Social Welfare, Health, Education and Law to attend the next committee meeting.
