KP govt to expedite 2nd phase of Covid vaccination campaign

Four coronavirus patients died and 80 people were infected with virus in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Tuesday aimed at the provincial government announced to ‘kick-start phase-2 Covid vaccination campaign’ in the province.
According to the report, the province has so far recorded 180,075 coronavirus cases and 5,846 fatalities.
According to a notification issued by the health department, the KP government will initiate phase-2 of the vaccination campaign with special focus on implementation of the obligatory regime from December 1st to December 3rd.
“In the light of the decision of NCOC dated 30th November 2021, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government has decided to kick-start phase-2 of Covid vaccination campaign with focused implementation regime”, said the notification.
NCOC has directed the provincial health department that all district and provincial health bodies should ensure that targets related to Covid-19 vaccination are achieved in the phase-2.
It further said that owing to the new situation of the pandemic the new campaign will be very critical.
It is pertinent to mention here that overall risk from the new variant Omicron is very high and further data in coming days will reveal the ability of the new variant.
NCOC decided to take quick action and asked the provincial government to start a second phase of vaccination.
Following the Omicron news, Pakistan has banned travel from six African countries as well as Hong Kong.
According to reports South African scientists have identified a new version of Covid-19 infection.
A panel of the WHO has named the new variant Omicron and classified it as a highly transmissible virus of concern.
