The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Care Commission released the quarterly report (July to September 2023), highlighting significant developments in healthcare regulation and quality enhancement across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Key achievements include the progress of a flagship project, capacity building, licensing, and assessment of healthcare centers, efforts to eradicate quackery, public awareness campaigns, support for the Sehat Card Plus Programme, complaints redressal, and regulation of Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories.
Commission’s flagship project involves the development of a comprehensive healthcare centres database and Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping of healthcare establishments (HCEs). During this quarter, 1,172 HCEs were registered, and 5,569 were geo-tagged in the field.
The Commission regularly provides training to the staff of healthcare centers on Minimum Service Delivery Standards. In the last quarter, 97 staff members of 44 health centres were trained. The total number of staff trained so far is 373.
Provisional licences were awarded to 44 Hospitals during this quarter. Expert assessors evaluated 25 hospitals across the province.
The Commission utilizes a comprehensive strategy to combat quackery, encompassing the facilitation of registration of qualified healthcare providers, the execution of eradication campaigns, and the enhancement of public awareness.
In this quarter, HCC teams inspected a total of 1,319 health facilities. Out of which 454 were issued notices, and 163 were sealed due to non-compliance with regulations.
The Commission is actively backing the Sehat Card Plus Programme and is in the process of developing assessment criteria for secondary and tertiary care hospitals. The Commission received 565 complaints during this quarter and successfully resolved 342.
The Commission regulates Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories by developing and refining reference manuals and checklists for assessments.
