KP Health Department mobilizes coordinated flood response under DG Dr Shahid Yunis

Peshawar: In the wake of devastating floods that have ravaged the northern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the provincial health department has launched a coordinated emergency response to address the growing health needs of affected populations. A high-level health sector coordination meeting was convened on Monday under the chairmanship of Director General Health Services KP, Dr Shahid Yunis, bringing together representatives from all partner organisations. The meeting, held at the Directorate General Health Services office, was attended by the Additional DG Health Services, Director DGHIS, Director HR, senior health officers, and representatives of various humanitarian and development partners. Participants shared updates on their ongoing support and pledged enhanced collaboration in the flood-hit districts of Malakand region, including Buner, Swat, Shangla, and Bajaur.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr Shahid Yunis emphasized the importance of timely coordination with the designated section of the DG office to avoid duplication of efforts and ensure efficient delivery of health services. He called for a unified approach to streamline resources and strengthen field-level interventions.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from all stakeholders to support the provincial health department’s efforts under the leadership of Dr Shahid Yunis, whose proactive engagement and strategic direction were widely appreciated by participants.
