KP health dept issues six month performance report

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department issued last six months performance report against fake medicine and said that a total of 172 samples of medicine were declared fake, while 545 drug samples were declared illegal.
The department also claimed to have sealed around 157 drug shops.
The report said that actions have been taken on the directions of Secretary Health KP Mahmood Aslam and Director General (DG) Drugs and Pharmacy Services, Dr. Abbas Khan.
According to the report, a total of 8,609 inspections were conducted in the last six months, in which a total of 4,264 drug samples were sent to the Provincial Drug Testing Laboratory, Peshawar, for examination based on suspicion.
Among the examined samples, a total of 172 samples were declared fake, while 545 drug samples were declared illegal and the raided team of the health department also sealed 157 medicine shops in different parts of the province.
Moreover, a total of 48 FIRs have been registered under the leadership of the Health Secretary, and cases against 145 accused have been referred to the Drug Court.
The drug court has imposed a fine of Rs 3.8 million during the six months, the report added.
