Peshawar : Minister Health Taimur Saleem Jhagra has said that the KP government is pursuing the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan, and in the process of transforming healthcare service delivery in Pakistan.
Public Private Partnership (PPP) is the one of the vehicles that the government wants to use to improve access to quality health care for the citizens of this province.
The Minister ensured that all processes to engage the private sector will be fair and transparent and encouraged the private sector to partner with the Government to improve the health landscape of the province.
KP Health Foundation, the conduit to sustain PPP agreements, has taken lead to initiate consultative process via the first of a series of Medical Investment Conferences. The process intends to set up a robust and regular coordination mechanism between public and private sectors.
He said at the conference that the Health Department is very serious regarding PPP initiatives in KP and our appetite efforts for innovation is evident in the government’s remarkable Health Insurance initiative that was conceptualized and implemented in the province within 3 months.
Dr. Niaz Ahmad, Director General Health Services, on the occasion appraised the Health Foundation’s efforts and highlighted the remarkable success the Health Department achieved in the PPP arrangements. It was avowed that the process will be structured and enhanced for up-coming partnerships.
Dr. Amanullah Khan, Chairman BOGs Health Foundation KP, reflected that it is the responsibility of state to finance, regulate and deliver quality and equitable healthcare services. KP has decided to engage private sector for the service delivery component of healthcare thus we are undergoing a transition to refine the legal aspects of PPP and to strengthen the Health Foundation, in this we require support from our partners.
