Health Minister Syed Qasim Ali Shah, accompanied by MNA Iqbal Afridi, MPA Abdul Ghani and Sohail Afridi visited the Category D Dogra Hospital in Bara Tehsil, Khyber District.
During his visit, tribal elders and local leaders honoured the minister with a traditional tribal turban.
Minister Shah inaugurated a 90 KVA solarisation project at the hospital.
He also opened a water filtration plant for clean drinking water, a newly constructed conference room, and a new laboratory. Additionally, the minister administered polio drops to a child at the hospital.
While inspecting the ongoing outpatient department (OPD) services, Minister Shah listened to the patients’ concerns and assured them that the staffing shortages at Dogra Hospital would be addressed soon.
He emphasized his commitment to prioritizing healthcare services in the tribal districts, acknowledging the hardships faced by the tribal people.
He noted that medicines were dispatched a week ago and that his visit was to ensure their proper delivery and use.
Minister Shah announced plans to activate Tirah Hospital promptly by providing the necessary funds.
He urged local leadership to visit hospitals, report their needs, and promised timely fulfilment of those requirements. He highlighted the significant role of donor assistance in the activation and rehabilitation of hospitals in the tribal districts.
DHO Khyber, Zafar Ali Khan, provided the minister with an overview of the hospital’s status and the operational and rehabilitation efforts in the district’s health centres.
Minister Shah was also briefed about the Zero Crossing Hospital located at the Pakistan-Afghanistan border and the performance of the Outbreak Response Committee. He was informed about non-functional health centres, of which 12 have been reactivated in the past two years.
