KP launches kidney transplant, cochlear implant services under health card program

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Advisor Ihtesham Ali formally inaugurated kidney transplant and cochlear implant services under the “Transplant and Implant” initiative of the Sehat Card Scheme at theHayatabad Medical Complex (HMC).
A brief inauguration ceremony was held, during which hearing aids were successfully fitted to children, and two patients underwent successful kidney transplants.
Hospital Director Dr. Faisal Shahzad provided a comprehensive briefing to the Health Advisor on the newly launched services.
Speaking to the media, Ihtesham Ali stated that the initiative is part of the provincial government’s broader mission, under the leadership of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur,to deliver advanced healthcare services directly to the public. “This scheme is a symbol of new life and renewed hope for the people of KP,” he remarked.
During his visit, the Health Advisor personally met with the kidney transplant recipients, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Minister and medical staff for the life-saving treatment.
The event also marked a heartwarming moment as children, fitted with cochlear implants, responded to sound for the first time, an emotional milestone for families and doctors alike.
Ihtesham Ali noted that, to date, 15 children have been fitted with state-of-the-art cochlear implants through the ENT department at the hospital.
He confirmed that these services are now a permanent component of the “Transplant and Implant” segment of the Sehat Card Plus program.
