Progress on ongoing initiatives aimed at improving public service delivery by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Local Government Department was reviewed in a meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Shahab Ali Shah.
The meeting was informed that the Local Government Department is undertaking sustained practical measures to ensure efficient public services across the province and to enhance the overall quality of life of citizens. As part of these efforts, the department has successfully achieved key targets set for December 2025.
Officials briefed the meeting that the installation of manhole covers in various localities is underway in response to public complaints, while the regular collection and safe disposal of solid waste on a daily basis is being ensured.
To promote transparency and accountability, the provincial government has decided to introduce a modern monitoring system to oversee staff attendance and field activities, which is expected to further improve service delivery and operational efficiency. In addition, the department has ensured effective cleanliness arrangements at fruit and vegetable markets, bus terminals, and fountain sites.
The solid waste management system in Peshawar is being upgraded along modern lines, and a camera-equipped command and control room is also planned to monitor cleanliness in parks, markets, and residential streets.
These initiatives reflect the provincial government’s commitment to strengthening municipal services and improving urban management across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
