KP Minister for Communications and Works Shakeel Ahmed has directed the relevant authorities to expedite the completion of ongoing road infrastructure projects, stressing that timely delivery and adherence to quality standards are among the provincial government’s top priorities.
The directive came during a review meeting in Peshawar on development schemes being executed under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Rural Roads Development Project and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Improvement Project.
The meeting was attended by MNA Sher Ali Arbab, MNA Shandana Gulzar, Adviser to the Chief Minister on Tourism Malik Adil, MPA Sharafat Khan, Secretary Communications and Works Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq, Additional Secretary Noor-ul-Amin, chief engineers and other senior officials, said a handout.
Participants reviewed the progress of ongoing and proposed road construction, rehabilitation and widening projects across the province. Officials also briefed the meeting on project implementation, utilisation of funds, timelines and quality assurance.
Addressing the meeting, the minister said officers should personally inspect project sites to ensure construction work met prescribed standards and was completed within the stipulated time frame.
He said improving transport facilities, strengthening road connectivity between rural and urban areas and developing modern infrastructure remained key priorities of the provincial government.
The meeting also stressed the need for continuous monitoring of development projects, timely release of funds and improved coordination among relevant departments to ensure the efficient use of public resources.
Participants directed the executing agencies to remove bottlenecks delaying ongoing projects, accelerate the pace of work and maintain transparency, accountability and quality at every stage of implementation.
