The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Excise Department has seized 3.6 kilograms of hashish and arrested three alleged drug smugglers, including a woman, in two separate operations in Peshawar.
According to the department statement, the operations were conducted by the Excise Bureau of Intelligence and Investigation Squad as part of the provincial government’s zero-tolerance policy against narcotics and on the directives of the provincial minister for Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control.
In the first operation, carried out on a tip-off at H. Gol Chowk, a woman was intercepted and searched by a lady constable. The search led to the recovery of 2.4kg of hashish, following which she was arrested.
In the second operation at the M-1 Joint Check Post, officials recovered 1.2kg of hashish during the search of two suspects identified as Nasir Jalal, son of Abdul Jalal, and Naveed-ur-Rehman, son of Wahid. Both were taken into custody.
Police registered separate cases against the suspects at the Excise Police Station, Peshawar. Further investigation is underway.
The Excise Department reiterated its commitment to continuing anti-narcotics operations across the province, saying strict action would be taken against drug traffickers in accordance with the law.
