PESHAWAR: Provincial Minister for Public Health Engineering Fazl Shakoor Khan chaired an open public forum (Khuli Kachehri) at the District Council Hall in Nowshera to hear complaints related to the Public Health Engineering Department and direct their prompt resolution. According to an official statement issued here, the Provincial Minister for Minerals Arif Ahmadzai and Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Agriculture Mian Muhammad Umar Kakakhel also attended the event, which was participated in by local elders, elected representatives, community leaders and residents. Participants raised issues concerning the supply of safe drinking water, drainage facilities, the functioning of tube wells, maintenance and repair funds and other public service matters. DLP Report
Addressing the gathering, Mr Khan said the provincial government, under the directives of Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi, had prioritised the provision of basic public services. He said the purpose of holding open forums was to enable elected representatives to hear public grievances directly and ensure their timely resolution.
The minister assured participants that all issues raised during the forum would be reviewed with the relevant authorities and addressed in a transparent and phased manner.
Expressing concern over the poor performance of some tube well operators, he warned that strict legal action would be taken against officials found negligent in the discharge of their duties. He added that the matter would also be discussed at the upcoming Public Health Engineering Convention to improve departmental performance and accountability.
Mr Khan said his office remained open to the public and urged citizens to cooperate with government institutions to improve service delivery.
Mr Ahmadzai and Mr Kakakhel also listened to public complaints and assured participants that the relevant departments would work in close coordination to resolve civic issues and remove obstacles to the provision of essential services.
Participants appreciated the government’s initiative of engaging directly with the public and expressed confidence in its commitment to resolving local problems.
