Adviser to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister on Finance Muzzammil Aslam on Tuesday claimed the province had collected more than Rs150 billion in own-source revenue for the first time in its history, attributing the achievement to fiscal reforms, improved tax administration and financial discipline.
According to an official statement issued here Mr Aslam said the province had surpassed its annual own-source revenue target of Rs129bn by collecting over Rs150bn during the outgoing fiscal year.
He said the province had generated Rs92.701bn in own-source revenue during the previous fiscal year, making this year’s performance an increase of more than 60 per cent.
The adviser said the record collection reflected the success of the provincial government’s reforms aimed at broadening the tax base, strengthening tax administration, improving compliance and enhancing financial management.
Mr Aslam said higher provincial revenues would enable the government to increase spending on public welfare, infrastructure, education, healthcare and social protection programmes without imposing additional financial burdens on citizens.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to pursuing reforms that promote transparency, fiscal responsibility and sustainable economic growth, adding that every rupee collected would be utilised for the welfare of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
