The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government on Tuesday reviewed plans to establish a Smart Tourism Command and Monitoring System (STCMS) aimed at improving tourist safety, digital services and emergency response at tourist destinations across the province, said a handout.
The statement said the proposed system came under discussion at a meeting chaired by Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Tourism, Culture, Archaeology and Museums Malik Adeel Iqbal.
Officials briefed the meeting on the proposed features of the system, including GPS tracking, free Wi-Fi at tourist sites, real-time weather and traffic updates, emergency alerts, digital information services, live monitoring, data analytics and an integrated emergency response mechanism in coordination with the Tourism Police, Rescue 1122 and other relevant agencies.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Iqbal said the provincial government was committed to transforming Khyber Pakhtunkhwa into a modern, safe and smart tourism destination through the use of advanced technologies.
He said the proposed system would provide tourists with timely information, safer travel, accurate route guidance and immediate assistance during emergencies, thereby enhancing their overall travel experience.
The special assistant directed the relevant authorities to prepare a comprehensive implementation strategy for the project, saying the initiative would help provide world-class facilities to visitors and strengthen the province’s tourism sector through secure and efficient digital solutions.
