Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Akhtar Hayat Khan has said that the provincial police fought bravely against terrorism and the nation indebted to those who sacrifices their lives for the peace of the region.
He was speaking at a function arranged in Peshawar to mark the Police Martyrs Day, observed across KP.
Corps Commander 11 Corps Lt. Gen. Hasan Azhar Hayat specially participated in this program.
The police chief said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police officers and soldiers fought so bravely in the war against terrorists that even the enemy was surprised.
KP Police, Pak Army, FC and intelligence agencies have created countless stories of bravery to turn the dark night of terror into morning light, he said and added that the history is that the spirit of martyrdom and bravery has been in the blood of the people and forces of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for centuries.
Around 2,000 officers of Pakhtunkhwa Police sacrificed their lives, which the rank of Additional IGP are included.
The IGP said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police has become a role model today. Levies and Khasadars of former tribal districts have also become part of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police Force after receiving police training.
They have made a lot of sacrifices for protecting the lives and property of the people and protecting the borders and now they are performing their important role better than before after receiving training and the latest example of this is the two suicide attackers on the Bara Tehsil compound.
Defying police encounter and reporting the presence of a suicide bomber in Ali Masjid in Jamrud, the martyred Additional SHO’s life is met with a courageous action.
The IGP added that the police force is like a family and their welfare is as dear to me as my own children.
In this regard, a large incentive package has been approved for education, public health, widows and children of the force personnel.
Under the welfare package, the burial charges of police constables, the monthly amount given to widows and the amount of bridal gift on daughter’s marriage have been increased.
In the police welfare package, special attention has been given to the education of the children of the force personnel.
The IGP also saluted the courage and bravery of the police veterans for fighting head on against the terrorists and described them as a valuable asset of the force.
The IGP expressed special thanks to everyone present in the hall, especially all representatives of print and electronic media and intellectuals for writing and broadcasting programs about the bravery and achievements of police martyrs.
In the ceremony, biographical sketches of the martyred police officers and police officers and bouquets were presented to their heirs.
At the beginning of the ceremony, Additional IGP Operations Muhammad Ali Babakhel shed light on the importance and usefulness of Police Martyrs’ Day.
In the ceremony, Additional Chief Secretary, Air Vice Marshal, Inspector General of Police, Provincial Finance Minister and Corps Commander 11 Corps also placed flowers on Yadgar Shuhda.
