KP reports fifth Mpox disease case

A fifth case of Mpox disease was reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as according the to Health Department on Wednesday a 33-year-old man who had recently returned from Saudi Arabia was tested positive and quarantined at home by the health officials. The affected man stayed at a hotel in Peshawar and went to a private clinic for treatment from where he was referred to Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH). At the hospital blood samples of the patient were sent to the Public Health Reference Lab which confirmed the existence of Mpox virus.
The Health Department said the affected man has been quarantined at his home in Dir Lower adding that the patient did not meet with any of relatives since he returned from Saudi Arabia.
The patient was being strictly monitored by a health team headed by the DHO Dir Lower. He was showing positive signs of recovery, the health officials said, adding that family members of the patient have also been informed regarding the preventive measures to avert the spread of virus.
