CM Gandapur chairs meeting on police matters

A high-level meeting on police matters was chaired by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur on Wednesday. The meeting, held at CM House Peshawar, was attended by the Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary Home, Acting Inspector General of Police, and other senior officials.
According to a statement issued after the meeting, the Chief Minister was briefed on key developments regarding police recruitment, vehicle procurement, and other law enforcement matters.
The forum was informed that in light of the current law and order situation, 1,356 new positions have been created in various ranks across the police force, particularly for the southern districts.
The recruitment process for 1,200 constables is nearing completion, with appointment letters expected to be issued soon.
Recruitments for sub-inspectors, assistant sub-inspectors, and head constables are progressing as per standard procedures.
Additionally, 246 vacancies have been filled under the new quota system, including 85 in Peshawar, 51 in Mardan, 24 in DI Khan, 25 in Kohat, and 25 in Malakand, specifically reserved for the children of martyrs.
In the coming days, 72 more assistant sub-inspectors will be hired under the same quota in Peshawar, Malakand, and DI Khan regions.
A case has also been submitted to the Public Service Commission for the recruitment of 631 vacancies under the 25pc quota for in-service staff for the position of sub-inspector.
In terms of resources, the police force has purchased 34 double-cabin, 30 single-cabin vehicles, and 15 motorcycles, with the bulletproofing of 79 vehicles currently underway at a cost of Rs760 million.
Addressing the meeting, CM Gandapur stressed the need to expedite both the recruitment process and the procurement of vehicles. He reiterated that maintaining peace and security remains the top priority of the provincial government and assured that all necessary resources would be provided to enable the police to meet the challenges posed by the current security situation.
