Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government spokesperson Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif has urged the federal government to immediately send a delegation to Afghanistan for talks on regional security. He warned that if the federation fails to act, “the KP government is prepared” to send its own jirga to initiate dialogue.
In a statement issued here, Barrister Saif emphasized that the provincial government remains the frontline province in the fight against terrorism, carrying the burden to protect the rest of the country.
Mr Saif said the sacrifices made by the people of KP have shielded the nation from the flames of terrorism, and the federal government must now take this issue seriously. He stated that this is not a matter of political point-scoring but of human lives. “The federation must either engage directly with Afghanistan or formally allow the KP government to proceed,” he said.
KP government spokesperson criticized the federal government for its lack of response, revealing that the provincial government had sent formal requests months ago regarding cross-border security concerns, but no reply was received.
He added that Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur is committed to restoring peace in the province, and tribal jirgas have already been formed to support peace efforts. “If the fire of terrorism spreads beyond KP, it will engulf the entire country,” he warned.
Barrister Saif urged the federal government to recognize the urgency of the situation and cooperate with the provincial government in eliminating terrorism.
