KHYBER: Zwaan Koki Khel, the youth organization of the tribe has strongly criticized the recent visit by the Peshawar Commissioner, Riaz Mehsud to a disputed piece of land in Regi Lalma and describing the move as unilateral and unacceptable. In a statement issued on Thursday, the organization expressed serious concerns over what it called the Commissioner’s failure to consult or include the Kuki Khel tribe, a principal party to the dispute, during the visit. The inspection was carried out without informing or taking representatives of the tribe into confidence, they alleged. According to the statement, such actions not only reflect administrative bias but also create the impression that efforts are being made to advance a particular agenda while ignoring established facts and the concerns of key stakeholders. The organization maintained that the Kuki Khel tribe was a fundamental party in the land dispute and that any process conducted without its participation could not be considered fair or transparent. They warned that one-sided decisions and actions could lead to unrest, mistrust, and public reaction in the area, for which the relevant authorities would bear responsibility.
Reiterating its position, the organization stated that no decision regarding the disputed land would be accepted unless boundary demarcation was carried out in accordance with the Maffey Griffith Award of 1912.
The youth organization of Kuki Khel further alleged that the Peshawar Commissioner appeared to be repeatedly favoring one side in the dispute, which it said was contrary to the principles of administrative neutrality.
The organization called on the authorities concerned to take all stakeholders into confidence prior to resolving the dispute through a transparent process based on legal and historical evidence.
