Lahore High Court (LHC) has suspended Election Commissioner (EC) notification to denotify PTI MNAs from Punjab.
The petition against the EC step in connection with acceptance of resignation of more 70 MNAs of PTI came up for hearing before LHC Monday.
The court while seeking reply from all respondents including EC on next hearing has remarked the matter to the extent of speaker notification will be heard on March 07.
Justice Shahid Karim heard petition from 70 MNAs of PTI including Fawad Chaudhry, Shah Mehmood Qureshi , Pervez Khattak, Asad Umar and others.
The speaker National Assembly, Election Commission and others have been made respondents.
They have taken the stance in the petition that the speaker NA did not hear the stance of MNAs before accepting their resignation. EC denotified the MNAs following the acceptance of their resignation.
The PTI MNAs requested the court to nullify the step regarding acceptance of resignations besides ordering the EC not to hold by polls in respective constituencies.
The LHC also issued order to EC for not holding by polls to the extent of MNAs of PTI from Punjab province.
