Qatar Charity distributed livelihood equipment and wheelchairs among vulnerable families and persons with disabilities at a ceremony in Peshawar on Wednesday.
The assistance included tricycle loaders, sewing machines, wheelchairs, school furniture and flour mills, aimed at helping beneficiaries generate sustainable incomes, improve their livelihoods and enhance their quality of life.
The ceremony was attended by Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Technical Education Muhammad Usman Bettani, KP-TEVTA Managing Director Mian Abdul Qadir Shah, Secretary Industries, Commerce and Technical Education Department Amjid Ali Khan and Second Secretary at the Embassy of Qatar in Pakistan Yousuf Mohamed Hussain Saleh Al-Braik.
Welcoming the guests, Qatar Charity Pakistan Office General Supervisor Jassim Mohammed AlSumaiti said the organisation was committed to supporting vulnerable communities through humanitarian assistance and sustainable development programmes.
He said humanitarian assistance was not limited to meeting immediate needs, but also sought to restore dignity, create opportunities and help communities become more resilient.
“With the generous support of the people of Qatar and in close partnership with the Government of Pakistan, we continue to stand beside communities affected by disasters, poverty and other challenges,” he said.
Mr AlSumaiti said Qatar Charity’s ongoing nationwide campaign would benefit more than 150,000 people across Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The campaign includes the distribution of relief assistance, wheelchairs, blood pressure monitoring equipment, school furniture and livelihood support to vulnerable families, persons with disabilities and educational institutions.
The dignitaries, accompanied by senior government officials and representatives of the Qatari embassy, presented livelihood assets and wheelchairs to selected beneficiaries.
They also visited an exhibition showcasing the equipment being distributed and toured Qatar Charity’s information, education and communication material stall, where they were briefed about the organisation’s humanitarian and development initiatives in Pakistan.
