The tribesmen of Landi Kotal suspended Pak-Afghan highway in protest against abduction of their co-tribal,Imran Afridi kidnapped by unknown dacoits in Kashmore area of Sindh province and demanded of the provincial government to take immediate steps to release the trucker safe and sound.
Besides local political leaders, transporters and people from different walks of life put stones and other hurdles on the road at Takia area of Sultan Khel Landi Kotal,blocking it for all kinds of traffic.
Addressing to the nagry mob those who led the protest rally were including Member provincial assembly Shafiq Sher,tehsil chairman Haji Shah Khalid, Khyber transport union leader Shakir Afridi,elite of Jamaiat ullemae Islam,Fazal Mufti Ijaz and others categorically condemned the abducting incident of the local driver in Kashmore and said it was irony of the time that in their own country, they could not earn three times meal for their family.
As per his family source the kidnappers had demanded 20 million rupees ransom money that was impossible for the family of a poor abducted driver to pay, they remarked.
A video had been viral on the social media, torturing the driver by the hostage takers not only compelled the kidnapped relatives to pay money but also challenged writ of the Sindh government, they lamented.
They asked the Sindh government to take action against the dacoit’s gang and ensure safe release of the trucker.
The protestors threatened that if their co-tribesman was recovered in near future they would initiate protest demonstrations in Peshawar and Islamabad.
The protest was given up till coming Tuesday after assurance of the Sindh government.
Lone queues of vehicles including Afghanistan supply trucks were witnessed on both sides of the blockage point.
