Islamabad (Online) The National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage (Lok Virsa) and the Pakistan Museum of Natural History (PMNH)signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for joint collaboration in
related fields here at Shakarparian.The signing ceremony was held at Lok Virsa Heritage Museum. Dr. Fouzia
Saeed, Executive Director, Lok Virsa and Dr. M. Khan Leghari, Director General, PMNH signed MoU on behalf of their respective institutions.Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ashraf, Chairman, Pakistan Science Foundation was also
present on the occasion.Both the organizations are based at the federal capital and actively working for promotion of culture and information regarding natural
resources and heritage of Pakistan through different activities, programsand projects.
The MoU requires collaborative efforts to establish and develop expertise, exchange and cooperation in different projects in areas such as education,displays and fairs.
Both the parties agreed to promote exchange of information and materials of mutual interest for furtherance of objectives enshrined in their respective mandates. They also agreed to promote and facilitate exchange of expertise in the field of museology. They will provide access to each other to the museums working under them.
During Lok Virsa’s annual folk festival “Lok Mela”, the PMNH will participate bysetting up a scientific stall and screening of 3D movies at their auditorium to educate masses and create awareness among them about natural wealth of Pakistan.
Both the institutions also agreed to jointly explore, initiate and undertake fund raising projects, industry/market oriented projects and any other activities related to the areas of mutual interest for development of surrounding areas of museums working under them to attract more public for visits.
Special efforts will also be made by Lok Virsa and PMNH with Capital Development Authority to establish Safari train project at Shakarparian, which is already approved in the master plan of Islamabad.
This will enhance the public visits and create cultural and natural wealth awareness
among the masses for sustainable development of the country.The MoU is valid for two years from the date of signing and can be further extended with mutual consent.
