PCB Women Twenty20 Cricket League

Right-arm off-spinner Madeeha Khan spun Peshawar South to a convincing 36-runs victory against Charsadda in a vital match of the PCB Women Twenty20 Cricket League being played here at Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University Cricket Ground here on Tuesday.
Charsadda skipper Afsheen Khan won the toss and invited Peshawar South to bat first. Peshawar South while batting first set a huge total of 170 for the loss of eight wickets after playing the allotted 20 overs.
The opener of the Peshawar South Aleena, who is also skipper of the gteam, smashed a cracking 38 runs off 35 balls with five boundaries and one six and stayed for 60 minute on the wicket. She also hit all the Charsadda bowlers with her superb and elegant shorts.
Aleena along with no 3 batswoman Salma Faiz scored another vital 33 runs off 26 balls with four boundaries and one six. Tehzeeb, the middle order batter from District Swabi, scored another cracking 40 runs not out with six boundaries and one six, Tahzeeb was in superb form and she punished each of the Charsadda bowlers with her superb boundaries all around the ground.
Sumbal made another vital 18 runs not out with three boundaries and thus with 31 runs extra Peshawar South piled up 170 runs in 20 overs for the loss of eight wickets. For Charsadda Afsheen took two wickets for 39 runs in her four over spell, Seema Khan got two wickets for 26 runs in her four overs spell, Mehtab, Malaika and Ishrat took one wicket each.
In reply, Charsadda did not take a good start and lost two quick wickets for 27 runs, the first on just two runs in the second overs. But both Malaika and Mehtab rescued their team by adding 80 runs partnership for the third wicket.
It was quite a worrying partnership for the Peshawar South skipper Salma Faiz and both Malaika and Mehtab played like rock, hitting all the Peshawar South bowlers toward the boundary line with some fluent hitting.
The sitting spectators also enjoyed the superb batting of both Malaika and Mehtab. Mehtab made 35 runs with five boundaries and one six off 34 balls and Malaika adding another cracking and vital 45 runs off 43 balls with nine boundaries and one six. Both Mehtab and Malaika played well and they were nearing to complete the required runs target of 170 runs but Peshawar South bowler Madeeha took the responsibility and bowled in the line, keeping the rival batters under tremendous pressure. Madeeha got both Mehtab and Malaika wickets in her third over and thus played a key role in restricting Charsadda to 136 runs for five in 20 overs. Only HIna and Rasheeda added 12 and six runs respectively. Thus Charsadda made 134 runs in 20 overs for the loss of five wickets. For Peshawar, South Madeeha took two wickets for 19 runs in her three overs spell, Zaib Unisa took two wickets for 22 runs in her four overs spell. Jamashed Khan and Muhammad Fayyaz supervised the match while Nadeem Akhtar acted as official score.
The match was very vital as both Charsadda and Peshawar South played two matches each and lost one match each but Peshawar South had good run rates of scoring 170 runs in the 20 overs against Charsadda but with this victory Peshawar South confirmed their place for the final.
PCB coach Hajra Sawar was the chief guest on this occasion wherein the players were introduced to her. PCB male coach Rehmat Gul, Deputy Director Sports Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University Miss Mariyyah Samin, former PCB cricket coordinator Raham Bibi and a large number of female spectators were also present and witnessed the thrill-packed match.
