Mardan police failed to control terrorism

Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) of Intelligence Bureau (IB) was killed while two other worshipers got injured when unidentified suspected militants started firing in the mosque during Isha prayer on Sunday night in the limits of City police station, counter terrorism department, police and local sources said.
Sources said that the worshipers were busy offering Isha prayer at Zargarano mosque at Janabad on Fazl-e-Haq college road in the limits of City police station. Sources added that during that time unidentified suspected militant’s entered the mosque and started firing. As a result ASI of IB Kifayatullah died on the spot while two other persons identified as Lal Bahadur and Irfan residents of Janabad got injured.
The injured were shifted to Mardan Medical Complex (MMC). Local sources said that the suspected militants have covered their faces. Local sources said that the deceased Kifayatullah was the target of the suspected militants.
On the complaint of Station House Officer (SHO) City police station Khasta Rahman Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Mardan region registered case against unknown suspected militants under section PPC 302, 324 and 7ATA and started investigation.
It may be noted that from the last few months the incidents of terrorism has increased in the district. On 17th September unidentified suspected militants threw two hand grenades into the police post Char Ghuly in the limits of Rustam police station.
The blast damaged the building of the police post however no casualty occurred in the incident. On 27th August unidentified suspected militants threw a hand grenade on the main gate of Jabbar police station. As a result the main gate was partially damaged. However no casualty occurred in the incident.
The third incident of terrorism was occurred on 7th July in the current year at Chamtar police post on Nisatta road in the limits of Saddar police station. Unidentified suspected militant planted an explosive device under a bridge close to the main gate of Chamthar post, went off at 10:45am.
As a result, head constable Maqsood lost his life on the spot while Assistant Sub-Inspector Suhail Khan, constables Fayaz Khan, Mohammad Karim and passers-by Mohammad Ishaq and Hilal were wounded in the incident.
The rapid increase in the terrorist’s incident and suspected militants activities in the district spread panic in the masses.
