Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl chief Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman on Saturday welcomed the defence agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye, describing it as an important step towards unity in the Islamic world.
In a statement issued by the JUI-F central media cell, Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman said a joint defence force for the Islamic world had always been his party’s desire. He called on all Islamic countries to become part of the defence pact.
The JUI-F chief said other Islamic countries should also join the Pakistan-Saudi Arabia-Turkiye defence agreement. He said Pakistan and Saudi Arabia had full capacity to lead the Muslim Ummah. According to him, the defence agreement among Islamic countries reflects the manifesto and ideology of JUI-F.
Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman said the formation of an Islamic bloc had been part of JUI-F’s manifesto from the very beginning. He said the defence agreement among the three countries would further strengthen brotherly relations and would prove to be a strong pillar of collective security.
He said the agreement represents the desired unity and solidarity among the Muslim Ummah. He added that the defence pact is proof that the interests of the Muslim Ummah are common, and that it is a symbol of the commitment to the dignity and protection of Islamic sanctities.
The JUI-F leader further said the defence agreement would not only pave the way for closer cooperation among Islamic countries but would also be a significant milestone for the strength, unity and cohesion of the Muslim nation. He said Saudi Arabia holds a high place in the hearts of all Muslims due to the honour of custodianship of the Two Holy Mosques, and that the people of Pakistan consider the defence of the Two Holy Mosques a great honour and a sacred religious duty.
In his statement, Maulana Fazl-ur- Rehman prayed that the Pakistan-Saudi Arabia-Turkiye defence agreement becomes a means of rise and renaissance for the entire Muslim Ummah.
He also extended heartfelt congratulations on behalf of JUI-F to the heads of state of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye.
