The Final Year Project Exhibition 2025, Department of Mechanical Engineering, UET Peshawar showcased 37 projects by the final year students the other day. Prof. Dr. Sadiq Khattak, Vice Chancellor UET Peshawar as chief guest inaugurated the exhibition alongwith Chairman Department of Mechanical engineering Prof. Dr. Hamid Ullah and faculty members.
The event was organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Hamid Ullah, Chairman with assistance from ASHRE students’ society and FYP Organizing Committee. The exhibition was sponsored by the Building Energy Research Center (BERC), UET Peshawar and Center for Intelligent Systems Network, (CISNR) UET Peshawar.
Prof. Dr. Sadiq Khattak as chief guest of the closing ceremony urged collaboration between academia, industry and government. “I appreciate the students and their supervisors for presenting innovative ideas that each one of the projects has a potential for marketing. “We need to focus on the commercialization of these projects for the benefit of society and make strong collaboration with industry to provide multiple solutions to the industry, he added.
Prof. Dr. Hamid Ullah while addressing the closing ceremony said “Final Year Project Exhibition” is a regular feature of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, being arranged from the last 27 years to celebrate the achievements of the students and encourage them to communicate their project work to the public, especially the industry. He appreciated the industry and judges for their participation in the exhibition.
He also appreciated the efforts of Dr. Shaukat Ali Shah Convener Final Year Project exhibition committee and Dr. Muhammad Alamzaib Khan, President ASHRAE Muhammad Tayyab and Senior Vice President Muhammad Hashir for holding a successful project exhibition. Dr. Naveed Ahmed, Director BERC also spoke on the occasion and encouraged the students for start up and applied entrepreneurship skills that they learned during their studies.
Amongst the best design project awards, the “best green project” award was won by the students for the project, “Design of Solar integrated HVAC system for Mechanical Engineering Department (Main Campus)”, supervised by Dr. Arshad Mehmood; Best Industry – University project was won by the students for project, “Design and fabrication of Assistive devices using extrusion base addictive manufacturing” supervised by Engr. Adnan Rasheed while the Best research award was won by the students for the project, “Design and performance evaluation of a sustainable HVAC system using TRNSYS”, supervised by Dr. Abid Hussain.
The first best project award was won by the students project,” semi autonomous pipeline inspection and monitoring robot for Oil and Gas industry” by Dr. M. Zeeshan Zahir, second best project award was won by the students for the project “Fabrication and Validation of Multidirectional Pin on Disc Wear Testing Machine for Novel UHMWPE”, supervised by Engr. Kaleem Ullah Khalil and third best project award was won for the project, “Design and Fabrication of Energy Efficient Smart Water Heating System”, supervised by Dr. Fakhre Alam Khan.
At the end, Prof. Dr. Sadiq Khattak and Prof. Dr. Hamid Ullah gave shields to the winners followed by the judges, student societies and FYP organizing committee. The exhibition was attended by a large number of students, faculty and representatives from different industries.
