The Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Engineering and Technology Peshawar showcased 41 projects during the Final Year Project Exhibition 2022 held here the other day.
The graduating students presented their final year projects. The exhibition was organized by the Department of Mechanical Engineering under the supervision of Chairman Prof. Dr. Rizwan Gul.
Prof. Sahar Noor, Dean, Faculty Mechanical Engineering, UET Peshawar was the chief guest on the occasion.
He urged the faculty to foster relationships with industry and coordinate such industrial engagement activities on Campus so that students not only develop professional skills, they also feel confidence to support and contribute to the growth of relevant industries.
Earlier, he visited the projects and praised the efforts of the graduating students for their innovative ideas.
Prof. Dr. Rizwan Gul said, final year project is a regular feature of department of mechanical engineering which provides opportunity for the students to demonstrate their learning experience during their education.
He appreciated the local industry including Heavy Industries Taxila, FF Steels, Paraplegic Center Peshawar, Pakistan Engineering Council and other industries who took part in the exhibition.
He said, while it is important for universities to build strong linkage with industry, industry in turn, should also share its resources/facilities and invest in engagement activities.
He appreciated the efforts of Dr. Zeeshan Zahir and other members of final year project exhibition committee for holding a successful project exhibition.
He also thanked the Evaluation Committee including Prof. Ajmal, from Tevta, Dr. Tufail Habib, Department of Mechanical Engineering Jalozai Campus, Engr. Jahangir, from FF Steels Peshawar and the volunteers from different student societies.
Amongst the best project awards, the first prize was won by the students for the project “Design and Fabrication of a liquid desiccant based evaporative cooling system” Supervised by Dr. Alam Zeb, second prize was won by the project “Design and Fabrication of a low-cost portable mechanical ventilator” supervised by Prof. Dr. Abdul Shakoor while third prize was won by the project “Design and fabrication of Centrifugal Boiler” supervised by Engr. Shafi Ud Din.
The project exhibition also declared special awards including Best Mechanical Design conferred to the group for “Performance assessment of vapor compression cycle with nano refrigerant” supervised by Dr. Zeeshan Zahir, Best Research award to the group for “Numerical investigation of Micro channel Heat sink with novel cross sections”, supervised by Dr. Karim Akhtar, Best Mechanical Green project to the group for “Measurement of Traffic related Air pollution through BRT route Peshawar” supervised by Dr. Zeeshan Zahir while Best Poster “Performance of UAV Engines at High Altitudes” supervised by Dr. Sadiq Khattak.
Prof. Dr. Sahar Noor Dean, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Prof. Dr. Rizwan Gul, Chairman Mechanical Department gave away shields and cash prizes to the winners and to the project evaluation committee. Prof. Dr. Hamid Ullah, Director Undergraduate Studies and Dr. Khizar Azam Khan, Registrar UET Peshawar was also present in the closing ceremony.
