Bajaur secures first position, Khyber finishes second
PESHAWAR
The Under-16 Merged Tribal Districts Games, organized by the Directorate of Sports Merged Districts, concluded in a dignified ceremony held in Peshawar.
District Bajaur delivered an outstanding performance, winning one gold and two silver medals to claim first position. District Khyber secured second place with one gold and one silver medal.
On the final day, Bajaur defeated Sub-Division Bannu by six wickets in the cricket final.
In the football final, Sub-Division Lakki triumphed over Bajaur with a 5–3 victory to clinch first position.
Director Sports Merged Districts, Umar Arshad Khan, distributed trophies and cash prizes among the winning players. Also present on the occasion were Deputy Director Sports Zakirullah, Deputy Director Amir Zahid Shah, Assistant Director Rahid Gul, AD Muhammad Imran, DSO Amir Zaman, DSO Muhammad Hussain Orakzai, Awan Hussain, and other officials.
Speaking to the media, Umar Arshad Khan stated that for the first time, Under-16 Games were successfully organized for athletes from the merged tribal districts.
He emphasized that the primary objective of the event was to provide opportunities to young players at the grassroots level and polish their skills so they can bring pride to the country in the future.
He further announced that in the next phase, various talent hunt and talent grooming programs across different sports disciplines will be launched to identify and develop hidden talent from the merged districts.
He also revealed that Women’s Games, Inter-Madaris Games, and Minority Games will be organized in the future to ensure equal sporting opportunities for all segments of society.
More than 1,000 players from six districts and seven sub-divisions of the merged tribal areas participated in the games.
