The provincial minister for Information and Public Relations, Culture, and Tourism paid a comprehensive review of key facilities and services during his visit to Nowshera.
The visit included an inspection of Sub Jail Nowshera, District Headquarters Hospital, and participated in a Khuli Kacheri (open court) organized by the Department of Public Health Engineering at Kakasaheb.
During the visit of Sub Jail Nowshera, Barrister Feroze Jamal Shah Kakakhel assessed the conditions of different sections within the jail, interacted with both prisoners and staff.
The in-charge officer, Baitullah briefed the Minister about sub jail. He highlighted the issue of overcapacity, with 527 inmates in a facility designed for 171.
To address this critical concern, the Caretaker Minister revealed that a range of solutions, including jail expansion or construction of a new facility, will be considered.
In response to immediate health needs, the Caretaker Minister instructed the District Health Officer Nowshera to arrange prompt treatment for inmates suffering from mental and other medical conditions.
Subsequently, Barrister Feroze Jamal Shah Kakakhel visited the District Headquarters Hospital, Nowshera, where he met with hospital staff, doctors, and patients’ attendants, inquiring about patient care and the quality of services offered. Dr. Shoaib Khan, the District Health Officer Nowshera, briefed him on the facilities.
The Minister directed the hospital administration to prioritize addressing public complaints and ensuring the equitable supply of medicines and necessary treatment facilities. In conjunction with his visit, Caretaker Information Minister Barrister Feroze Jamal Shah Kakakhel participated in a Khuli Kacheri organized by the District Public Health Engineering Department in Kakasaheb.
This public forum enabled residents to voice concerns about clean water supply. The Minister was joined by Deputy Commissioner Nowshera Khalid Khattak, SDO Public Health Engineering Ziaur Rehman, and other relevant officials.
The primary issue discussed during the Khuli Kacheri was the inadequate clean water supply in Kakasaheb.
Minister Kakakhel pledged swift action by directing the public health authorities to address this matter urgently. He emphasized the importance of ensuring water supply to every neighbourhood in line with their requirements and called for the appointment of operators at 11 designated tube wells.
The Minister reiterated the need to prioritize and resolve public water-related issues promptly and asked for a progress report from authorities within one week.
