Mohmand dam construction becomes white elephant

Mohmand Dam construction has become while elephant like Neelum-Jhelum project. According to the documents the construction performance remained only 22 percent after passage of three and half years.
As many as Rs 76 billion have been spent so far but the tunnels could not be constructed. Even a half project except residential colony in Mohmand dam could be completed. The construction work on irrigation tunnels could be completed by 3.15 percent.
It has been further said in the documents that the construction of central dam is equal to non as only 0.46 percent construction work could be completed on central dam. Like wise construction work on power house could be done only 9.62 percent.
According to PC-1 Mohmand dam project has to be completed till December 2025.
The documents disclosed that Rs 14 billion from foreign loans have been spent in the construction of Mohmand dam. Rs 61 billion have been spent from development budget.
As per PC-1 the Mohmand dam project will be completed at the cost of Rs 309 billion.
Loan amounting to Rs 71 billion was obtained from international banks for Mohmand Dam project.
