ISLAMABAD
More 26 Members of National Assembly (MNAs) affiliated with Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) have resigned from standing committees.
This development has taken the number of MNA who have resigned to 47.
This movement forward is being seen as clear sign of formal separation from parliamentary activities by opposition.
According to assembly sources all the MNAs have filed their resignations in the office of the speaker National Assembly (NA). However speaker NA has not accepted resignation of any one opposition member.
The sources said resignations are being reviewed at the level of speaker office and important decisions are likely in the next few days.
It is pertinent to mention here those who have resigned include 6 chairmen of standing committees. This has triggered the fear the parliamentary performance of NA will be affected.
Those who have resigned include Junaid Akbar, Aamir Dogar, Ali Asghar, Changez Ahmad, Shehr Yar Afridi. Faisal Amin, Ali Muhammad Khan, Barrister Gohar, Zain Qureshi, Sheikh Waqas Akram, Shandana Gulzar, Mohsin Aziz, Shehram Tarkai and others.
According to the observers who are keeping watch on parliamentary affairs, this step is indication of dissatisfaction prevailing in opposition ranks and a part of protest strategy against the government attitude.
