KARAK
The elders of the Muttahida Qaumi Tehrik Takht Nusrati have expressed deep concern over the deteriorating law and order in the tehsil, the open sale of drugs, and the alleged extrajudicial killings of Nazar and Zohaib last week.
They have demanded an immediate high-level judicial inquiry and announced a complete social boycott of the police due to their alleged failure.
The meeting, presided over by Tehsil Mayor and MQT President Sajad Ahmed, began with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Key participants included Tehsil Council Speaker Haji Rahman, former minister Malik Zafar Azam, ANP leaders Imtiaz Khattak and Zahid Ullah, and other local elders.
Participants highlighted that drugs are being sold openly across the tehsil, and police are allegedly colluding with drug dealers. The extrajudicial killings of Nazar and Zohaib were described as brutal and condemnable, with the mistreatment of their bodies deemed shocking and unacceptable.
The elders also condemned what they called a humiliation of the Khattak community.
Decisions taken included: calling for an immediate high-level judicial inquiry, continuing the social boycott of the police, considering the establishment of civil police stations in all areas of the tehsil, and formulating strategies to eliminate drugs and restore law and order. Symbolic locking of police stations was proposed if required.
The elders emphasized that public trust in the police has eroded and called for the establishment of an alternative system to ensure citizens’ safety. They agreed to continue consultations to develop further action plans for restoring peace in Takht Nusrati.
