Peshawar: Adviser to the KP Chief Minister on Finance Muzzammil Aslam, visited the Peshawar Bureau Office of Dawn newspaper yesterday and strongly condemned the federal government’s decision to suspend government advertisements for Dawn. Speaking on the occasion, Muzzammil Aslam said that Dawn is the country’s largest and most credible national daily, and imposing a ban on government advertisements is tantamount to placing restrictions on the media. The Editor North of Dawn, Ismail Khan, along with other staff members, warmly received the KP Finance Adviser. Expressing solidarity with Dawn, Muzzammil Aslam stated that such pressure tactics against media organizations are only expected from a “Form-47 government.” He added that Dawn has played an independent and watchdog role since the creation of Pakistan, and that such restrictions are being imposed to promote partisan media platforms APP
