NA-213 Umerkot by-election to be held on April 17

Umerkot: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced that voting for the National Assembly’s NA-213 Umerkot seat will be held on April 17, 2025. The seat fell vacant following the death of Nawab Yousuf Talpur. The final list of candidates has been released by the returning officer, with 21 candidates contesting the by-election. Prominent names include Nawab Taimur Talpur, Saba Talpur, Sana Talpur, and Nawab Younis Talpur from the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP). From the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Lal Malhi and Lakhraj Malhi have been approved. Ghulam Nabi Magrio is representing the Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA), while Mir Irfan of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Umar Jan Sarhandi of the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) are also in the race. According to the Election Commission, 494 polling stations will be set up across Umerkot district, with 1,847 polling booths — 943 for male voters and 904 for female voters. The total number of registered voters in the constituency stands at 468,282, including 247,681 male voters and 220,601 female voters. News Desk
