NA speaker should not have met PM in the prevailing situation: Yousuf Raza Gilani

ISLAMABAD : Former Prime Minister (PM) Yousuf Raza Gillani has said speaker is custodian of the house and he is not part of the government and in the prevailing situation he should not have met Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan.

“ Speaker is custodian of the house and not the part of the government. In the prevailing situation he should not have met the PM”, he said this while talking to media men here Wednesday.

The responsibility of safeguarding rights of not only treasury members but all the members of assembly lies with the speaker, he remarked.

“As a speaker neither I went to Benazir Bhutto to meet her nor did I ever go to airport to receive her, he held.

Speaker National Assembly (NA) Asad Qaisar should not have held meeting with the PM in the prevailing situation, he remarked. This meeting of speaker NA with the PM will be considered controversial, he added.
