Parliamentary Secretary for Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training (MoFEPT) Visits National Skills University (NSU) Islamabad
Ms. Rabia Naseem Farooqi, Parliamentary Secretary for Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training (MoFEPT), visited National Skills University (NSU), Islamabad. Professor Dr. Saud Altaf, Vice Chancellor NSU welcomed and briefed her on the University’s academic programmes, skills-oriented educational approach and ongoing initiatives aimed at strengthening technical and professional education at NSU. He also apprised the Parliamentary Secretary of the efforts of NSU to strengthen skills-based education, promote technological competencies and develop graduates equipped to meet the requirements of industry and the modern workplace. He reiterated the University’s commitment to advancing the national agenda of youth empowerment through quality education, innovation, technology and industry-academia linkages.
Ms. Rabia Naseem Farooqi appreciated the efforts and progress of National Skills University in promoting skills-based higher education and commended the University’s focus on preparing students for contemporary professional and technological challenges. She expressed her desire to see NSU further grow as a leading institution in skills education and make an even greater contribution to youth development, employability and national economic advancement.
During the meeting, Ms. Rabia Naseem Farooqi also highlighted that “an investment in knowledge pays the best interest”, emphasizing that education should be regarded as an honour rather than a burden. She underscored the vital role of higher education in driving economic growth, digital transformation and youth empowerment, and laid stress on the importance of using education and technology to equip Pakistan’s youth with modern, market-oriented skills. She further emphasized the need for universities to align their curricula with emerging fields, particularly Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence and other future-oriented disciplines, in line with the Prime Minister’s vision for a knowledge-driven and globally competitive Pakistan.
The visit reaffirmed the shared commitment of the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training (MoFEPT) and National Skills University (NSU) Islamabad for advancing skills education, embracing emerging technologies and empowering the youth with the competencies required to contribute in the economy of Pakistan.
