National Street Children Conference: “I Am Somebody” concludes

The Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Program, Rana Mashood Khan, has announced significant support for the street children’s football team preparing for the Norway Cup. This includes facilitating logistics for one month of training and providing first-class trainers to ensure the team’s readiness for the international competition.
He was addressing the National Street Children Conference titled “I Am Somebody” under the auspices of Muslim Hands held in the Federal Capital.
The conference focused on fostering dialogue, action plans, and partnerships to improve the lives of street-connected children in Pakistan.
A documentary titled “I AM SOMEBODY” trailer was screened, showcasing the challenges and triumphs of street children featuring two Pakistani Street footballer across the globe, made by Oscar Award winning Sharmeen Obaid Chinnoy Films.
Speakers emphasized the role of sports in transforming the lives of street children and discussed various initiatives and shared success stories, illustrating how sports can be a powerful tool for empowerment and education.
The second plenary session focused on the importance of partnerships and advocacy in promoting child rights. Discussions highlighted collaborative efforts between government agencies, NGOs, and international organizations to enhance protection and opportunities for street children.
The conference concluded with a reaffirmation of the “IAM SOMEBODY” campaign, which aims to facilitate the legal registration and school enrollment of half a million children across Pakistan.
This ambitious campaign seeks to address the critical issues of birth registration and education access, ensuring that every child is recognized and given the opportunity to learn.
