Secretary Election Commission Umar Hameed has said there is no substance in media reports on not holding general elections within three months by Election Commission (EC).
“There is no substance in media reports of not holding next general election within 3 moths by EC. Holding election is constitutional obligation of EC and it is always ready on this count”, Umar Hameed said this while talking to media men here Tuesday.
He went on to say there is no truth in the media reports on non holding the general election within 3 months. EC will discharge its obligations in synch with the law and constitution.
He added EC has already issued local bodies election schedule in Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan. The local bodies election will have to be cancelled in the event of announcement for general election.
EC has summoned emergent meeting to review its preparations in case general election are held.
