PESHAWAR: The Provincial Ombudsperson held an open court in Bannu division under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s “Justice at the Doorstep” initiative, where a large number of women attended and submitted their complaints. During the proceedings, women raised issues including denial of inheritance rights, illegal occupation of property and harassment in markets. Provincial Ombudsperson Rabab Mehdi issued orders on several cases on the spot and directed that action be taken on long-pending complaints, with hearings to be fixed without delay. Human Rights Coordinator Dr Rabia Gul assisted in receiving applications and helped with administrative arrangements during the session. Addressing the participants, Rabab Mehdi informed women and students about the procedure for filing complaints from home, particularly in cases related to harassment and inheritance disputes. She said the provincial government was using all available resources to improve access to justice for women. Staff Reporter
