The Leader of the Opposition in the Provincial Assembly, Dr. Ibadullah Khan, has strongly criticized the provincial government following the tragic death of 18 members of a single family who were swept away by flash floods.
Describing the incident as “heartbreaking and deeply saddening,” Dr. Ibadullah termed it a clear reflection of the state’s failure and government negligence.
He alleged that the victims waited for help for over four hours, but no relief operation was launched in time.
“This is not just failure; it amounts to criminal negligence,” he said. “After such a tragedy, it is both morally and constitutionally imperative for the government to accept responsibility.”
Dr. Ibadullah demanded the formation of a high-level judicial commission to conduct a transparent investigation into the incident. He also called for full financial and legal support for the bereaved family.
Criticizing the lack of disaster preparedness, he stressed the need for an effective relief system and a comprehensive strategy to prevent such incidents in the future. “If a government cannot protect the lives and property of its citizens, it loses its moral right to remain in power,” he added.
