In a significant diplomatic engagement underscoring Pakistan’s steadfast focus on multilateralism, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar received Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today.
During the meeting, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar provided a comprehensive briefing on the Pakistan Mission’s ongoing activities in New York, with particular emphasis on engagements at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) and other key UN bodies. He highlighted the Mission’s sustained efforts to effectively project Pakistan’s core foreign policy priorities on the global stage, including the longstanding issues of Jammu and Kashmir and the Palestinian cause.
The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister appreciated the Mission’s proactive role and reiterated the critical importance of the United Nations and multilateral institutions in promoting global peace, security, and sustainable economic development. Senator Dar stressed that Pakistan remains deeply committed to upholding the principles of the UN Charter and advancing dialogue-driven solutions to international challenges.
This high-level interaction comes as Pakistan continues its active participation as a non-permanent member of the UNSC for the 2025-2026 term, where it has consistently advocated for just resolutions to longstanding disputes and greater international cooperation on pressing global issues.
The meeting reflects Islamabad’s ongoing dedication to multilateral diplomacy amid evolving regional and international dynamics, ensuring that Pakistan’s voice on key matters—particularly the right to self-determination for the people of Jammu and Kashmir and support for Palestinian rights—remains prominent at the world’s premier forum.
Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach at the UN continues to play a pivotal role in fostering peace and stability, aligning with the government’s broader vision for a rules-based international order.
