Pakistan must build technological capabilities in areas such as AI, biotechnology and advanced manufacturing: minister
ISLAMABAD
Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal says Pakistan’s key challenge is to translate economic stability into sustained growth, productivity, exports, investment and employment.
Addressing a visiting delegation of Harvard Business School MBA students in Islamabad Friday, he highlighted the government’s ‘URAAN Pakistan’ framework based on 5Es.
The Planning Minister said Pakistan’s young population, strategic location, resources and digital economy offer strong potential for economic transformation.
He said Pakistan aims to become a one-trillion-dollar economy by 2035, with a focus on Productivity, Quality and Innovation (PQI) to enhance the global standing of “Made in Pakistan.”
Ahsan Iqbal said Pakistan must build technological capabilities in areas such as AI, biotechnology and advanced manufacturing, while integrating climate resilience into economic planning.
Speaking about the second phase of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, the Minister said it will focus on industrial cooperation, technology transfer, agriculture, exports and business partnerships.
Ahsan Iqbal said that sustained transformation requires policy continuity and stronger private-sector participation.
He also invited the students to return as investors, entrepreneurs and partners in Pakistan’s economic development.
