Ismailia
Pakistan defeated Malaysia by 5–3 in the Hockey World Cup Qualifying Round in Ismailia, Egypt, on Monday, registering their second consecutive win in the tournament.
The high-paced encounter remained finely balanced in the opening half, with both sides locked at 2–2 at the break after an intense exchange of goals.
Pakistan, however, raised their tempo in the decisive stages of the match to seal a victory.
Waheed Rana, Zakaria Hayat and Ahmed Nadeem struck in the early phases to keep Pakistan in contention, while Sufyan and Muhammad Imad delivered crucial goals in the fourth quarter to put the result beyond Malaysia’s reach.
The victory follows Pakistan’s winning start against China in their opening fixture, underlining the team’s growing momentum and attacking depth in the qualifying campaign.
With two wins from two matches, Pakistan will now face Austria in their final league match on March 4.
